Story
For the last 14 years, Sarah and Jacob Kirk have worked together doing design and build in the WV, VA, MD, and the DC Metro area, both as employees of other firms and for their own firm. In fact, Sarah and Jacob met at one of those firms and that connection led to our taking on incredible building projects together eventually building a life and family together as well. They excel at their work and enjoy doing it together and they have found the trust and confidence we have in each other has the effect of providing our clients a sense of assurance in our work and is the foundation for building great things. Their success as a team is their ability to build a business through sheer grit and wit as well as their belief in work, family, and home-life balance without having to sacrifice core values.

Owners
Sarah Kirk, Owner of Design-Build-Live, has a 13-year residential design & build background with a degree in Interior Design from Marymount University. She specializes in whole house design and space planning and enjoys working closely with her clients. Sarah excels at finding the balance between form and function, all the while achieving practical designs that remain true to the taste and personality of each client and their desired aesthetics. With her experience working on Design/Build teams her talent and experience offers a true integration with home builders and helps ensure the delivery of the home of your dreams.
Jacob Kirk, Co-Owner of Design-Build-Live, delivers not just great design and building talent, but also honesty, compassion and integrity. For over 25 years, Jacob has refined and polished his building skills and knowledge while steadily working his way up through the ranks of the Washington, D.C., area’s top remodeling firms. His eye for detail, passion for fine home remodeling, and appreciation of the architectural arts ensure quality artisanship, management and estimating on every project. His approach, which is both design-oriented and respectful of each client’s needs, has led to a long-standing reputation for excellence and skill that can come only from hands-on experience.
Jacob and Sarah first worked together in 2007 at an architecturally driven design/build firm located in Chevy Chase, MD. Jacob was the Director of Construction and Sarah was an Interior Designer. This is where their design and building synergy was first discovered and developed as they discovered a rare harmony and efficiency, with each project offering new opportunities to make their visions a reality. For 14 years Sarah and Jacob have partnered together bringing synergy and excitement to the building and design process, in the past this partnership has been working dynamically with other builders and previously as Kirk Carpentry.
When not at work we spend our time living our true dream by building our homestead in Capon Springs, WV. We are mostly chasing kids, goats, pigs, and chickens, and enjoying every moment we can outdoors.
